According to adidas Tournament of Champions organizer Eric Stratman, Burlington is one of the best kept secrets in the world.

There’s not much doubt about it — Liberty is ready for another challenge.

Nor is there a doubt about this — a challenge is coming. The Blue Jays pack their bags for this weekend’s Adidas Tournament of Champions in Burlington, Iowa, which has earned the reputation as one of the premier high school girls soccer tournaments in the country.

Playing alongside Megan Pawloski and her 124 career goals, it’s easy for the other girls on the Althoff soccer team to get overlooked.

But Kelsey Dinges has earned her time in the spotlight.

St. Charles North faced a good news-bad news scenario entering the 2010 campaign. The North Stars are armed with six seniors who have signed with Division I programs. On the other hand, 12 seniors departed from last year's regional champs, including the entire back line. 

When Althoff’s Megan Pawloski scored two goals in a 5-1 girls soccer victory over Belleville East on March 26, the Crusaders’ scoring dynamo may have broken the girls’ individual goal scoring record for the St. Louis area.

As a first-year soccer coach at Brookfield East, Matt Schroeder doesn't know many of the players in the Greater Metro Conference.

But he sure knows Divine Savior Holy Angels.

The Dashers, ranked 17th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll, have won the last two Division 1 state championships, and have the talent, experience and desire to win their third in a row this season.

Try as they might, the Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer players can't escape the memory of last year's controversial sectional semifinal loss to Belleville Althoff.
